About us

On August 16, 1998, David Streitfeld wrote the following in the Washington Post: “That honour goes to Cafe Camelot, which might just be my favourite cafe in the world. It’s spread over three rooms, one of which has a table perched in the window, if you feel like eating on a stage.”

History

At the beginning of the twentieth century, it was home to a brothel; remembered with fondness by Krakow artists. When it fell into ruins its walls and interiors became a movie set. Awantura o Basię [Argument About Basia], the iconic film of the 1960s, was filmed here. The spirit of moral unrest took up permanent residence here. The thirteenth-century cellars and upper floors host
Loch Camelot theater performances, concerts and recitals.

Art

At Cafe Camelot, the perverse ferment continues to tempt to this day. Naive art figurines lean against the walls on which letters signed by Polish King Sigismund Augustus and a collection of paintings by Nikifor Krynicki hang.

Camelot LULU

Inspired by this spicy story, we created a younger sister – Camelot Lulu. An impromptu, velvety, champagne and chocolate fondant-loving, perverse Lulu , who loves to host guests. We bake bagels and challahs since the early hours of the morning, serving soufflés and omelets, and lemon, truffle and pumpkin pierogi at midday. We are already part of the royal city and are creating a new story.
